On 27 March 1818, Matthias Armbruster (by his own account "an old soldier") submitted his declaration and other papers in order to receive a pension. He admits he meets the "needs" criteria by stating that he is poor and indigent, and gives a detailed description of his troop's movements during the time he was enlisted. Read about the battles he fought in and the wounds he received by clicking on the image to the right.
